A little too close to illegal search and siezure for my tastes. The less government involvement in anything the better. Big brother is watching you.

And to stir the pot a little more in the same vein.

Insurance Companies are Watching You Too!

Health and Life insurance companies are starting to use your private medical data, in this case perscription history, to decide whether to cover you or not (more than likely not). Personal privacy and freedoms are taking a major dump in this country. So much for the ideals of the founding fathers.

Auto insurance companies are using the computerized black box in newer cars that monitor all your speed data to refuse coverage as well. Hello Big Brother!

reasons to keep buying and maintaining older cars....

"blind to the truth" is an attack on my ability to comprehend the situation.

"when you feel that you're being unfairly persecuted" is an attack on my beliefs in the situation.

I stated clearly that there is nothing on a laptop or cel phone that can't be e-mailed over the internet, burned to any medium, etc. That there is no contraband that can be passed through a computer that border security has any legal business trying to stop. Period.

So using this for an excuse to search laptops or cel phones without a warrant is the EXACT SAME as searching without probable cause. Searching for drugs is one thing, because you can't e-mail those.

This is the government using its power against us and removing yet another right step by systematic step, and your attitude towards it is just another example of enabling this to happen.

"In Germany, they came first for the Communists, And I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Communist;

And then they came for the trade unionists, And I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a trade unionist;

And then they came for the Jews, And I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Jew;

And then . . . they came for me . . . And by that time there was no one left to speak up." - Martin Niemöller

Now they're coming for our RIGHTS one by one. When are you going to speak up?

I've been speaking out against the rights being stripped away and racial profiling since sept. 12, 2001 so I'm with you.

In the end if your worried about your personal information - dont' take it with you - keep it online and encrypted. Run your own servers or hosted solution where you can control the end to end encryption.

For those still concerned but are willing to smuggle data - use truecrypt with hidden partitions so you have multiple layers.

Ironically anyone they would really want to capture already does this, so only the non threats have their rights taken away and abused.

Sometime within the last year there was a post in this forum I visit that is basically stuff Americans living in Germany post on. One of the articles was about how Germany passed a law stating that they would have the right to read anyones emails, listen in on any phone conversations, etc.. for like at least 6 months. It may have been for a full year. They said it had something to do with catching terrorist.

It was on this site, but good luck finding the article lol. I peeked a bit but didnt spend much time looking. http://www.toytowngermany.com/forum/index.php?act=idx

I dont think other countries give there citizens as much freedom as we get in the states. And these citizens here seem to just accept it. I have heard stories that if you get pulled over in Germany and the politzi wants to do a blood alchohol lvl check and you dont want to do it, they can punch you in the face and get your blood that way.

My feelings on stuff like this is that if I dont have anything to hide then what do I care? I doubt that these people are going to care about any of my exciting emails my mother sends me, or pictures of my bird, or anything else I have on my laptop. I say they can go for it!

I just flew to the states and back to germany with a laptop and cell phone, and no one asked me to turn on either of them at any time.

I carry extensive video files of gerbil porn on my flash card. Also, the plans to the Death Star--in Arabic.

Would this get me in any trouble?
